Stay informed with the latest news, community updates, and upcoming events in Port Matilda Borough. This newsletter highlights a new pollinator garden at Community Park, announces a zoning officer opening, shares seasonal reminders, and previews several community events taking place this fall.
New Pollinator Garden at Community Park
Port Matilda Borough Council would like to thank Girl Scout Josie Varrassa for creating a beautiful new pollinator garden at Community Park as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project.
Located beyond Pavilion #3, the garden features perennial plants designed to attract important pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by and read the informational materials located in the garden's mailbox to learn more about pollinators and their importance to the environment.
Zoning Officer Needed
Port Matilda Borough is accepting applications for a part-time Zoning Officer.
This paid position reports directly to Borough Council and is filled on an as-needed basis.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume to the Borough Office during normal business hours.
Until the position is filled, zoning permit applications and zoning questions should continue to be directed to Lynn Snyder at (814) 222-3050.
Grange Fair Office Hours
During the Grange Fair (August 20–29), Borough Office hours will be by appointment only.
Residents needing assistance during this time should contact the Borough Office to schedule an appointment.
Port Matilda EMS 5K
Port Matilda EMS will host its annual 5K Run on:
Saturday, October 3, 2026

Notary Public Services
Former Mayor Ida Lively is now serving as a Notary Public.
She is available:
Most evenings
Daytime by appointment
Appointments may be requested by emailing Ida and including "Notary" in the subject line.
Seasonal Borough Reminders
Outdoor Burning
Burning paper and yard waste is permitted only:
Between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
In an appropriate container
While attended until the fire is completely extinguished
Grass Clippings
Please do not blow grass clippings into Borough streets.
Grass clippings create traffic hazards and can clog storm drains.
Fireworks
Port Matilda Borough does not have local ordinances regulating fireworks.
Any fireworks-related incidents should be reported to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Trim Bushes and Brush
Residents are reminded to keep bushes and brush near corners and intersections trimmed back to maintain safe visibility for motorists

Free Tire Collection Event
The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) will host a Free Tire Collection Event on:
Saturday, September 12, 2026
Registration is required.

2026 Dog Licenses Available
2026 Dog Licenses are still available for purchase at the Port Matilda Borough Office.
