Borough Council Update: Thank You, Joe Bloom
The Port Matilda Borough Council announces that Council Member Joseph Bloom officially resigned his seat effective June 17, 2025.
Council extends its sincere appreciation to Joe for his years of dedicated service and commitment to improving our community. His contributions to Port Matilda have been greatly appreciated.
To ensure continued leadership, Borough Council has appointed Brandon Maynard to temporarily fill the vacant council seat. Brandon will serve until the results of the November 2025 Municipal Election determine a permanent replacement.
Council welcomes Brandon and thanks Joe once again for his service to the Borough.
Sign Up for ALERTCentre Emergency Notifications
Centre County 911 and the Centre County Emergency Management Agency have launched ALERTCentre, a free emergency notification system designed to keep residents informed during critical situations.
Residents can receive alerts for:
Missing persons
Evacuation orders
Wanted fugitives
Active shooter incidents
Shelter-in-place orders
Emergency shelter information
Severe weather alerts
Enrollment is free and voluntary. Borough residents are encouraged to sign up to stay informed during emergencies.
Summer Reminders for Borough Residents
Lawn Care and Grass Clippings
Help keep Port Matilda clean and safe this summer by mowing lawns regularly and keeping properties well maintained.
Please do not blow or deposit grass clippings onto streets or roadways, as they can create traffic hazards and clog storm drains.
Residents are also reminded to trim grass and weeds around nearby fire hydrants. Keeping hydrants visible allows emergency responders to access them quickly if needed.
Fireworks Reminder
As you celebrate this summer, please remember that Pennsylvania law generally permits fireworks only until 10:00 p.m., with exceptions on New Year's Eve and Independence Day (July 4).
To report fireworks-related concerns, please contact the Pennsylvania State Police Non-Emergency Line at (814) 355-7545.
2025 Dog Licenses Available
Dog owners are reminded that 2025 Dog Licenses are available at the Port Matilda Borough Office.
Please stop by during regular office hours to license your dog.
